Looking for a great way to Celebrate Spring in Englewood?
This is the place: Englewood’s 37th Annual Fine Arts Festival, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Englewood. This year’s festival will be held from 10am-4pm Saturday and Sunday, March 24th – March 25th, 2018.
Sculptors and Multi-Media Artists will showcase work alongside each other to create a diverse and exceptional range of special art work and gifts. Visitors are sure to find unique souvenirs, artwork, and plenty of home décor.
The Rotary’s 37th Annual Spring Fine Arts Festival is one of Englewood’s favorite springtime celebrations. The juried art show features original works by over 120 artists from all over the country and Canada. The artists will display their work in a variety of media including sculpture, painting, jewelry, ceramics, and photography. The participants this year include some artists that have been with the event every year, as well as many first time exhibitors.
The featured artist this year is local artist, Mel Landon. Mel Landon lives on Florida’s west coast where she enjoys exploring the rivers & gulf beaches, but she grew up on Australia’s east coast, living and working on the Great Barrier Reef. Her overlapping experiences of these two worlds create the perfect inspiration for many of Mel’s colorfully fun paintings. Her vivid color combinations, marine life, and tropical lush rain forests are perfect examples of Mel’s unique style. Often utilizing reclaimed lumber to add character to the original Acrylic painting, Mel continues to incorporate nature’s beauty into every “one of kind” piece. Combining local history and stories into a painting is a specialty. Mel has an intriguing way of bringing miles of smiles to those who encounter her masterpieces!
Mel’s gorgeous artwork will be available for sale throughout the event. T-shirts featuring Mel’s “Lookey Here Fish Camp” will be also be available at the event, as will food, beverages, and live entertainment.
The art show is free to the public, but Rotarians will be asking for a $2 donation that benefits the Englewood Rotary Youth Foundation. The Englewood Youth Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization that supports many local youth activities, including over $50,000 for Lemon Bay High School Scholarships. Donations will be used to support area youth activities & literacy campaigns, such as Englewood Elementary Reading Programs, Englewood Area Little League, Lemon Bay High School, Eagle Scout programs, and Kids Needs.
