It is much more than music in the street. It is much more than 150 dedicated volunteers and businesses. F.A.M.E. stands for Friends for the Advancement of Musical Education, Inc. Trying, by Joanna McClelland Glass, opens the season, running from September 1 thru 19. It is a two-character play based on the author’s experience during 1967-1968 when she worked for Francis Biddle at his home in Washington, D.C. Judge Biddle had been Attorney General of the United States under Franklin Roosevelt. After the war, President Truman named him Chief Judge of the American Military Tribunal at Nuremberg. The play is about a young Canadian girl and an old Philadelphia aristocrat, “trying” to understand each other in what Biddle knows is the final year of his life. “ ...portrait of generational reconciliation. It is enormously bracing theatre.” - New York Daily News

Pink Fire Truck to Visit Englewood
On Monday, September 27th, 2010 the “Pink Heals” tour group will be bringing one of their Pink Fire Trucks to Englewood to help raise breast cancer awareness. The Pink Heals team is a group of firefighters, law enforcement officials and leaders in the community who are trying to raise breast cancer awareness and funding for the fight to prevent cancer. We are asking Englewood to show their support of the Pink Heals tour group and their fleet of Pink Fire Engines by wearing pink apparel on Monday, September 27th. We are asking everyone to join your Englewood firefighters in their support of the Pink Fire Truck and the Pink Heals Tour. It is a simple way for the public to show their support of the Pink Heals tour and support the members of their local public safety community at the same time. It is our desire to show those members of our community who are battling this dreadful disease that Englewood supports them in their struggle and this can be done by simply adding some pink to our wardrobes for one day. We believe the “Cares Enough to Wear Pink” campaign will have a positive impact on the lives of those who are battling cancer.
The Pink Heals tour is hoping to have a nationwide “Cares Enough to Wear Pink” event. They want to inspire a “Pink Army” across the country on October 25th, 26th and 27th, 2010 by having members of the public safety community, business people, local civic leaders as well as the American people to wear pink shirts on those three days to show the world we are aware of this dreadful disease and we support those who are fighting against cancer.
The Pink Fire Engine will be available for viewing on Monday, September 27th from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM on West Dearborn Street. You can get more information about the Pink Heals tour through their website,
www.PinkFireTrucks.org.
