Lemon Bay Playhouse Presents "The Glass Menagerie"

TGM Cast and Director Img15213 4x6 1Cast and Director of "The Glass Menagerie"

Lemon Bay Playhouse is currently presenting “The Glass Menagerie”.  It will run from May 2 - 20, 2012, Wed. thru Sat. at 7:30 p.m., Sun. at 2 p.m.

“The Glass Menagerie” is one of the classic dramas of American theatre and Tennesee Williams’s first successful Broadway play.  A memory play, this intimate drama is the most autobiographical of Williams’s plays. It tells the story of the Wingfield family and how Amanda Wingfield tries to maintain the gentility of her Southern upbringing in the face of the poverty of The Great Depression while encouraging her son and daughter to strive for a better life. Ron Bupp, Director, has chosen an ensemble of experienced actors to tell this story.

Wil Horton (Tom) acts both as a narrator and an actor in the play, as the story unfolds through his memories. Rita Corn plays Amanda, a good-intentioned mother constantly trying to help her son and daughter find success in life, though her encouragement is not always welcome. Kim Fisackerly plays Laura, the daughter, who lives in a fantasy world revolving around her glass animals. Bill Fisackerly plays the most realistic character, the gentlemen caller, Jim. His visit brings hope that Amanda’s dreams might come true.

Be sure and get your tickets for this wonderful theatre experience! Tickets are $18, available online at www.lemonbayplayhouse or the LBP box office (Mon. thru Fri. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.) at 941-475-6756. Lemon Bay Playhouse is located at 96 W. Dearborn Street, Englewood FL 34223.

What is the best kind of preschool, early childhood education, for your child?  You want to understand different preschool styles, which is a good fit for you. You will also want to know how to tell if it’s a quality preschool.

According to the U.S. Department of Education, “children in high-quality preschools display better language, cognitive and social skills than children who attend low-quality programs.”
